Plymouth town-wide yard sale fundraiser

Our first fundraiser of the year, MVCS families donate their gently used clothing, gear, furniture, books, etc. for sale in the town-wide Plymouth yard sale in September.

Don't have anything to donate? Here are other ways you can help:

  • pre-sale organization and pricing of items

  • pre-sale table set up

  • SELL, SELL, SELL! It's fun- make a day of it!

  • clean-up

  • transporting unsold items to nearby donation centers (helpful if you have a pick-up truck)

  • bake some cookies or mix up some lemonade for hungry buyers!

family fridays

Once in the Fall and again in the Spring, MVCS families come together for Family Fridays, which lets our children and their families explore the classrooms, inside and out, together. Family Committee provides refreshments in the woods at Fort Creek, and sometimes a bake sale or campfire! After visiting your child’s indoor classroom, stop by for some coffee or cider and explore the beautiful outdoor spaces.

winter gear / clothing swap

At MVCS, our kids need a lot of outdoor gear! Have hand-me-downs that are still in great shape and are just dying for another season at MVCS? Donate gently used boots, coats, hats, snow pants, etc. to our Winter Gear Swap. The family committee will compile and organize all donations, so that families can “fill in the gaps” for their kids’ winter apparel.

Don't have anything to donate? Here are other ways you can help:

  • organize clothing by type and size

  • help oversee the Swap

  • clean up and stow or donate leftover items.

Winter solstice

all-school winter solstice concert

Every winter solstice, the Family Committee organizes our Winter Solstice Concert and potluck supper for our families. An evening of songs, poetry, skits, and crafts ends with a buffet potluck. In addition to bringing a delicious dish, there are so many ways you can help out!

  • Help plan the evening- come to a committee meeting!

  • Are you crafty? Run a craft table (ornament making or other winter craft)

  • Donate supplies for our craft table

  • Help set up the venue to make it look spectacular!

  • Stay and clean up while the kids play!

winter solstice walk at fort creek

With the advent of COVID, MVCS started a new tradition in 2020 to celebrate the longest night of the year and the return of the sun: the Winter Solstice Walk at Fort Creek. Classrooms decorate their outdoor shelters and create solstice lanterns, lighting a winding path through Fort Creek to the Lower Elementary campus. Here’s how to help:

  • Help light or turn on candles in the hundreds of lanterns lining the paths

  • Make hot cocoa and cider for Family Committee’s hot drink and candy cane stations

  • Help set up our hot drink stations

  • Monitor a cozy fire while chatting with families as they pass by

  • Come the next day to help clean up Fort Creek, post Solstice

plymouth holiday parade

MVCS often participates in local events during the winter holiday period, including participating in the parade held by the Plymouth Holiday Hometown Celebration, on the the first Saturday in December.

  • Brainstorm a float concept

  • Help on construction- parents and kids needed!

  • Donate supplies

  • Walk in the parade! All MVCS families, past and present, are welcome to join us in the streets of Plymouth and celebrate our school

bristol festival of trees

Our MVCS families come from a number of different areas in NH, so MVCS tries to participate in events both in and outside of the Plymouth area. For this event, Family Committee works with MVCS teachers to have students create beautiful natural ornaments to decorate a tree for the Bristol Festival of Trees, a fundraiser benefiting the Friends of Newfound Drama, that occurs just following Thanksgiving.

If you would like to sponsor an event in your home community, please get in touch with the Family Committee- we would love to broaden our reach!
